Wow. Has it seriously been almost 6 months since I have blogged. I need to get it together. I have lots of wedding photos to post and I am sure lots of other thrilling things to share with you! Thanks for checking up on me for those of you who still follow this lovely little blog.

I have to thank Eliesa from Photogen Inc. for inspiring me to get back at it with my blog. Eliesa just recently revamped the Photogen Inc. website (it’s awesome!) and did a feature on Skinner Jones. Eliesa has been so encouraging and so supportive of me and my floral business — she is kind, so talented and just awesome. Check out her new website and check out the feature on Skinner Jones.

I’ll be back with more flower photos! TTFN!

spring pot

Every year at this time I struggle to come up with something to put in place of evergreens in our pots. It’s definitely time for the winter greens to go but it’s not quite warm enough in Minnesota to plant anything — you can, but there aren’t many options right now and there is still a good chance that it can get below freezing some nights. So, what do we do for these weeks or couple of months in-between seasons? Well, here’s what I did this year, quince branches and mood moss. It’s simple, fresh, and won’t break the bank so it’s a perfect option for your pots for these next 6 weeks or so. You could also use any other flower branch or pussy willow in place of the quince.

Happy Potting. Anyone have plans for what they will plant when the weather warms up? I’m thinking all green in mine this year but then again I think I head that direction ever year and when it comes down to it I am so ready for some bright color!

Here’s the spring pot with Quince and Mood Moss. I would love to hear what you all are putting in your pots right now!

A wonderful 10.10.10 wedding! Skinner Jones had a “first” with this wedding – we built a chuppah! I loved the way it came together. I know it is obvious to most but the photos below are all from my lovely little cannon and aren’t photos from the fabulous Eliesa of Photogen – hopefully I can share those with you all soon!

Pictures from this past weekends wedding. I can’t take all of the credit for this one as it was more of a collaboration between a friend – Chris, and me (Skinner Jones)! It was a gorgeous, perfect fall day, stunning wedding party and lots of fun personal touches. I can’t wait to see the professional photos from their photographer.

I was so thrilled to be asked by Minnesota Bride Magazine to create a centerpiece for their photo shoot for the upcoming spring/summer issue! My assignment was to create a mostly orange centerpiece with some lime green and the arrangement was to include a non-floral element. Here’s what I came up with! The orange wire and orange feathers were my non-floral element, I decided on those two after trying: tulle, just feathers, just wire & orange peppers. I dropped off the arrangement this morning at a great little farm out in Stillwater. I can’t wait to see how the shoot turned out!

Kara and Kris are married! The ceremony took place at a church in Golden Valley and the reception was at Atlas – downtown Minneapolis. Here are a few photos of the flowers. The bridemaid’s dresses were claret and the groomsmen wore grey suits. Stay tuned for more photos of the wedding party…I am hoping Kara will share some with us!

Kerry and Jim were married this past weekend. Ceremony was at St.Olaf and the reception was at Jim’s family farm in Northfield. The farm was such a fun setting for a wedding. The tent was on the Anderson’s front lawn, tucked in between three red barns, and sat right up against the horse pasture (pardon my farm terminology if it’s incorrect – i’m a city girl). They had a fabulous tent provided by Apres that had lights, lanterns and most importantly — fans! It was a HOT day for an outdoor wedding but better than rain and cold! Kerry and Jim are the sweetest couple and let me tell you it looked like they had one hell of a party! The fun part about going back to the reception site the day after to pick up vases is that I get to see the aftermath of the wedding festivities 🙂

I am hoping that soon I will be able to post some great shots from their photographer but for now my photos will have to do!
