candy hurricanes

My mom has these adorable hurricanes on the island in her kitchen! I loved the idea for the holidays and wanted to share. She bought ribbon candy and dropped it in glass hurricanes around the candles. Cute! Doesn’t the ribbon candy work well for holiday decor?

cozy

Is this cozy or what? Love that the stockings are hung at the end of the bed. I just want to grab a cup of hot chocolate, a classic holiday movie (probably elf!) and snuggle up in this bed!

holiday branch

Steal this idea! How great is this? You can probably find a big branch laying around somewhere – your backyard, a nearby park or alley. Take that branch and hang it, above your dinner table, on the wall, over the fire place, anywhere! Adorn that simple branch with ribbon, pinecones, greenery, ornaments, etc.. This is so cute and so easy! I love it!

Also – take note of the fab chairs in the picture above. Love all of the different types of stools & chairs painted one color to create a uniquely cohesive look.

eco-friendly necklaces

You might want to put these perfect accesories at the top of your Christmas wish list….necklaces made from recycled materials. These fabric and wooden beaded necklaces are not only doing good for the environment but would do lots of good for my dull winter wardrobe!

holiday pots

I did my holiday pots weeks ago and am finally getting to posting about them. I should have done this in November so that if anyone needed assistance…I could have provided it. Well, it’s a little late but here’s a list of all of the greenery and other foliage we used.

*Spruce Tops
*Incense Cedar Boughs
*White Pine Tips
*Eucalyptus Pods
*Magnolia Tips
*Curly Willow Tips
*Seeded Eucalyptus

**Note: I never actually took a photo of my pots before the big snow here – so this photo is of my sister’s window boxes where we did a very similar look!

ribbon

I love ribbon. I just received this helpful tip from a Real Simple email and wanted to share with you all at a time when we are all wrapping many holiday gifts!

To determine how many inches of ribbon you need to wrap a gift, measure the length of the box, then multiply that number by 7!

Happy Wrapping!

photogen fabulous!

So…as you may know from previous posts, one of my favorite local photographers is Eliesa of Photogen-inc. Well, we were lucky enough to get her to photograph our immediate and extended family over thanksgiving weekend. She recently posted some of the photographs on her blog. Look at the post titled “family stone,” — what a very sweet little write up. Thank you, Eliesa! She does pretty great work, huh?

thanksgiving

My wonderful sister in-law and brother in-law prepared a delicious thanksgiving feast for us this year. One of my favorite parts of the meal was pumpkin moon pies!! Dessert before dinner…my kind of meal!! They really went all out with the decor as well so I wanted to share some photos. Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving!
